Two Pilots Rescued After Plane Crashes Off Greenland Coast

Two pilots were rescued on Monday, July 29, after their aircraft crashed into the sea off the coast of southern Greenland, Danish authorities said.

Footage posted to Facebook by the Danish Air Force shows the plane dipping toward the water before the crash, and the stranded pilots waving for help from an inflatable raft.

According to the post, the plane, a German-registered aircraft, was en route to the Greenland settlement of Narsarsuaq from Canada when it made a mayday call on Monday afternoon and subsequently crashed southwest of Qaqortoq.

The rescue was conducted by members of Denmark’s Navy, Air Force, and Arctic Command units, with local police.
