Until Dawn For PC & PlayStation 5 Gets ESRB Rating
On the official ESRB site, the anticipated new version of Until Dawn coming PC and PlayStation 5 now has a rating and corresponding summary.
Naturally, the survival horror classic Until Dawn earned another M rating, since its gameplay always featured “depictions of intense violence and/or gore.”
The ESRB rating reinforces that Until Dawn’s new release is still on track. It may even arrive sooner than expected, though that’s only speculation.
PlayStation most recently teased the rebuilt version from Ballistic Moon during its latest State of Play showcase in May 2024. The current release window for the game is Fall 2024, but it still doesn’t have a concrete release date.
Developer Supermassive Games released the original Until Dawn in 2015. The cinematic, narrative-driven horror game emphasizes player decisions. It also featured some Hollywood actors, such as Hayden Panettiere and Rami Malek.
According to the Steam page, the rebuilt version of Until Dawn coming to PC will include Unreal Engine visuals and new content.
That includes “collectibles, all-new environments to investigate, and re-cut narrative sequences.” There will also be a third-person camera and other quality-of-life improvements.
In January 2024, PlayStation Productions and Screen Gems also confirmed that an Until Dawn movie adaptation is also in the works. David F. Sandberg, known for Annabelle: Creation and the DCEU’s Shazam films, is attached to direct.
