Upcoming Tomb Raider Game Reportedly Has One Feature Hidetaka Miyazaki Perfected in Elden Ring
Fans wondering if Lara Croft’s journey is finally over can rejoice once again as a recent leak suggests that a new title is on the production table again, with a twist this time around. The Tomb Raider video game series has been iconic, being one of the few franchises that feature a female protagonist, and it seems like the studio might just be planning to take the series a level ahead by stepping into the world of open-world genre.
For what it’s worth, it seems the developers are keen to follow in the footsteps of none other than Hidetaka Miyazaki, a renowned director who blasted his way into the world of open-world video games with the release of Elden Ring back in 2022.
Christmas has come early for those who have been waiting since 2018 for some news about any new installments in the Tomb Raider franchise. A leaker by the username @thevscooper on Twitter has suggested how the next game is going to be fully open-world and will be set in India, which is an interesting choice on the studio’s behalf.

The post additionally reveals how the title will feature vast sceneries as well as the ability to use a motorcycle as a way to get around the map along with parachutes and other methods that Lara Croft has already used in past games to navigate her way around.
If true, gamers are potentially going to see a huge shift in how the Tomb Raider games are played out as it will be making a big jump to an open map as opposed to a linear story navigation that fans are already used to experiencing. Likewise, if the franchise is truly setting its foot in India, then one can begin to imagine how the studio working on bringing forward the most beautiful landscapes, something which Uncharted: The Lost Legacy has already covered before.
Revealed by the aforementioned user in a reply, the game is supposed to be released in an estimated timeline of a year from now. But that will be only made possible if there are no delays proposed in the way. The user also mentioned how this launch timeframe is not locked at all and can change anytime.
As discussed before, Tomb Raider is an iconic video game series, and one of the only few that manages to portray a female protagonist well. What this also means is how Crystal Dynamics would be ultimately putting in their best efforts to make the player’s experience feel worthwhile. To help with the same, the studio is predicted to be using Unreal Engine 5, a recently introduced game-developing engine that is also being made use of in the upcoming Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
