Valorant 2024 Needs a Critical Feature We All Loved in Counter-Strike
In the world of first-person shooters, Valorant and Counter-Strike are two of the brightest names. Not only in casual gaming, these two games played a pivotal role in putting esports in the same bracket as other conventional sports. Except for the abilities of the agents in the Riot Games shooter, both titles are quite similar, such as movement mechanics, shooting, and gameplay.
The game modes in them are almost similar as well, where two teams compete with each other for planting and defusing the spike or the bomb, along with conventional Death Match and other dedicated game modes. However, CS has an important feature that its counterpart lacks.
Counter-Strike Has Tactical Timeout Which Valorant Doesn’t Have
When you are playing a competitive match in games like CS or Valorant, players need their utmost concentration and resilience. But to maintain that throughout the match, which goes about 30-40 minutes, is a pretty tough job. That is why there is a Tactical Timeout option in CS.
This timeout option can be triggered for 2 minutes if one of your teammates gets disconnected at the start of a round. It gives an ample amount of time to the disconnected player to return to the match. The option can also be triggered if four players of a team decide to take a timeout. This timeout lasts for 30 seconds and can be triggered three times in a whole match.
The problem with Valorant is that there is no such kind of option in this game. If any player gets disconnected from a match in this game, you have to carry out that match without waiting for that player, which is a huge disadvantage.
Now, there is an option to surrender if any player gets disconnected or leaves the match. But for that, you have to lose the whole match. However, this surrender option is hugely abused by the players, which is a bit odd to the CS players.
Why Does Valorant Need Tactical Timeout?
In competitive matches, Tactical Timeout plays an important role. For example, if you want to discuss any new tactic or change the positions of the players, you have to do it in the short span of the buy phase if there is no timeout option, which is pretty impossible.
Buy phases are mainly considered to be used for buying the best gun combinations, armor, and throwables (in the Riot Games shooter, abilities too). That short period of time goes into taking conventional positions. So, implementing new positions or tactics is pretty hard at that time.
Also, if there is an emergency like a parcel at the door or a need to go to the bathroom, you have to leave your chair as it is, leaving your character idle, which is a free kill for your opponents and might be a major reason for losing the round.
That’s why Riot Games needs to think about this seriously and bring a timeout feature to one of its most popular titles. What is your opinion on this? Let us know in the comment section.
