Verizon service restored to more customers after more than 100K outages reported Monday

Service has been restored to more Verizon customers after thousands reported losing signal Monday.

Downdetector, an organization that monitors website outages based on user reports, says 13,400 Verizon outages are being reported as of 5:30 p.m. That was down from 104,000 at 11:45 a.m.

Cincinnati was among cities with the most reported outages, along with Columbus and Indianapolis.

“Verizon engineers are making progress on our network issue and service has started to be restored,” the company wrote in an X post at 5 p.m. “We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience some of our customers experienced today. We continue to work around the clock to fully resolve this issue.”

The company has not announced a cause for the outage.

The Federal Communications Commission wrote in an X post at 2:25 p.m. the commission was aware of the Verizon outage and is working to determine the cause and extent of the service disruptions.

By 1:17 p.m. ET, Downdetector was receiving roughly 55,000 more service issue reports than normal, a decrease from over 100,000 earlier in the day.
