Victims identified in 3-car collision in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The two people who died in the three-car collision early Saturday morning in New Haven have been identified.

Those killed are 21-year-old Dajsha Knight of New Haven and 19-year-old Madysin Hilker of West Haven.

At 1:52 a.m., officers with the New Haven Police Department responded to the area of Middletown and Barnes Avenues for a motor vehicle accident. Once at the scene, officers witnessed a crash involving three cars.

Officials say a silver Hyundai and a silver Infiniti both sustained heavy front-end damage, while the third vehicle, a gray Ford, received minor front-end damage.

One passenger in the Hyundai was pronounced deceased at the scene due to suffering significant injuries in the collision. The second victim succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital.

Several occupants in all three vehicles were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, and police say their injuries range from “life-threatening to minor.”

New Haven police’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 203-946-6304 or leave an anonymous tip at 866-888-7477.
