Warframe Could be the Answer to Fix One of the Most Obnoxious and Pointless Features in The First Descendant

Since its release, The First Descendant has continued to ride the high wave, amassing a large player count and a dedicated community of players. However, most who have spent enough time with the game understand that it isn’t yet a perfect experience by any stretch of the word.

For instance, the game’s combat, although inspired by other, more refined live service titles like Warframe, can be downright frustrating at times. That comparison is essential, as one of the combat’s most prominent issues can easily be overcome if only the devs decided to take on one crucial element of Digital Extremes’ juggernaut.

Warframe Holds the Key to the First Descendant’s Knockdown Problem

Although most players of the game are now used to the slight jank and are dominating bosses by coming up with a new meta almost every other day at this point, it is undeniable that the combat’s knockdown system is absolutely broken and unbearable.

The problem is that enemies’ attacks can knock you down if you’re anywhere within their radius (even in the air). You also get zero I-frames to gain distance and recover properly, meaning that it’s relatively easy to get overwhelmed by constant enemy attacks.

Perhaps the funniest part of this is how easy it is for Nexon to fix the problem. As suggested by the players on the game’s subreddit, all the devs need to do is add a 100% knockdown prevention perk, similar to what we have with the “Prime Sure Footed” mod in Warframe.

Can we please have this added?

Going through the thread, there are quite a number of ways that the devs can overcome this problem without giving the enemies a complete overhaul, from adding an upgrade to the Grapple Shot, to adding poise during the use of skills.

That said, since the game is still in its infancy, there’s a lot of time for the developers to bring it to the same level as Warframe—the only wish from the game’s community is that the devs stick with it and keep iterating on the core design of The First Descendant.

The First Descendant Can Become Nexon’s Magnum Opus With the Proper Steps

Since its release, the game has struggled to break past its mixed reception on Steam. However, it already has something that most live service titles struggle with—a dedicated community that truly wishes for it to succeed.

Nexon, too, uncharacteristically, has been listening and responding to player fixes. Kyle is no longer melting bosses into oblivion, and the game’s grind has been toned down, so there’s clearly some good work being done on the game.

However, only time will tell what state the game will be in once the honeymoon phase ends and it settles into the regular rhythm of a liver service title.

One thing is for certain—the developers have truly struck gold with this title, and with a bit of support, it can become one of the best F2P looter shooters on the market.

With that said, what are your thoughts about the game so far? Are there other features from Warframe that you’d like to see in the game? Let us know in the comments below!
