West Coast Eagles coach Daisy Pearce says All-Australian Ella Roberts ā€˜just getting startedā€™

West Coast coach Daisy Pearce has warned teenage sensation Ella Roberts is ā€œjust getting startedā€ after earning her first All-Australian selection in 2024.

Roberts, 19, was the youngest player included in this yearā€™s team and the sole representative for the Eagles.

She is just the second West Coast player in history, following defender Charlie Thomasā€™ selection last year, to be named All-Australian.

In her third season in blue and gold, Roberts was also named the Eaglesā€™ club champion for 2024.

Pearce said while the midfielder is already a star of the competition, Robertsā€™ best remains yet to come.

ā€œEllaā€™s weapons and natural instincts for the game are incredible,ā€ Pearce said.

ā€œShe brings so much excitement to the competition and itā€™s a privilege to get to see her do what she does up close.

ā€œItā€™s been awesome to see her start to make the connection between the consistency of her training and how that translates to her impact across four quarters and the season.

ā€œAs coaches, we love working with someone as competitive as Ella and who, at only 19 years of age, is really driven to see the team succeed, and sheā€™s only just getting started.ā€

Roberts received an unexpected shout-out from AFLW best and fairest winner Ebony Marinoff in her victory speech, who said you only needed to look at the Eagles star to be encouraged by the young talent in the league.

The Margaret River product polled an impressive 12 votes in the best and fairest count, placing equal ninth.

Fremantle stars Mim Strom and Aisling McCarthy also made their debut appearance in the All-Australian side, while Emma Oā€™Driscoll earned back-to-back selections as she retained her spot from last season.
