Why This X-Men Actor Turned Down A Role In Deadpool 3 And Wolverine

Deadpool and Wolverine has many cameos, but one actor who is not going to appear in the film is Vinnie Jones. He told Yahoo UK that he was asked to appear in the upcoming Deadpool film as his X-Men character, Juggernaut, but he said no due to the mental and physical strain of getting into character.

“Funnily enough I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director [Shawn Levy] and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically,” he said (via GamesRadar). “I mean it had its mental toll as well because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn’t strike the deal for Deadpool.”

Jones said Deadpool is one of his favorite movies, and he “really wanted” to appear in Deadpool and Wolverine. But, as Jones tells it, the filmmakers “didn’t have the budget to put me in the suit.”

Jones made his first appearance as Juggernaut in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. He wears a giant metal helmet in the film, and it certainly doesn’t look comfortable.

While Jones will not be in Deadpool and Wolverine, the movie is set to feature numerous characters and cameos. The most high-profile cameo could be Taylor Swift suiting up to play Dazzler, but that’s not confirmed at this stage.

Actor Karan Soni, who plays Dopinder, recently said of Deadpool and Wolverine, “There are a lot of surprises. Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London [where the movie was filmed].”

Deadpool and Wolverine releases in theaters this July. It is Marvel’s one and only film coming in 2024, and that’s intentional because Disney is trying to make fewer, better movies.
