With No Bloodborne PC Release, Game Pass Owners Wait for DLC Release of the Game That Comes Closest to the Sony Exclusive

Neowiz and Round8 Studio’s Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike Lies of P received a boatload of critical acclaim last year, thanks to its Bloodborne inspired world and innovative gameplay. Fans almost immediately started clamoring for more content, and their wishes may come true soon.

Although director Juwon Choi did tease some DLC concept art in 2023, recent developments offer a clearer picture of when fans can expect it to release, as well as hints at the potential future of the franchise which would make Bloodborne believers choke up.

Lies of P DLC Will Land Sometime Later This Year

There is no exact launch date announced by Neowiz yet.

Neowiz’s recent Q1 2024 Earnings Report provided valuable insight into the development roadmap for Lies of P, and confirms that the long-awaited DLC is slated for release in the second half of 2024.

While a specific date remains unannounced, this timeframe narrows down the wait time from the previously vague “a few months” and provides a more manageable window for fans to anticipate the expansion.

Details surrounding the DLC’s content are still hazy, as the report offers no specifics about the story, setting, or features of the expansion. However, the report does confirm that the DLC remains a top priority for the development team, assuring players that the expansion is actively being worked on.

Bloodborne Fans Must Keep Up The Wait

The news also incited some speculation about the previously announced sequel to Lies of P. Neowiz confirmed a full sequel was in the works alongside the DLC reveal last year. While the earnings report offers no concrete details about the sequel, the ending of Lies of P itself hints that the developers have intriguing ideas in mind for its continuation.

To see a game so heavily inspired by Bloodborne receive this much support is undoubtedly disheartening for fans of the FromSoftware masterpiece. Bloodborne was released in 2015 exclusively for the PS4, and has gone unnoticed by publisher Sony ever since.

The release of the PS5 led to an increase in fan demand for a Bloodborne remaster/remake and a PC port alongside it, as the gothic action-RPG suffered from a lowly 30fps cap and jittery frame pacing on PS4, which can seemingly only be rectified with an updated version.

Fans have been endlessly waiting for any crumb of Bloodborne news, and the recent State of Play raised expectations among some again, only for them to be slapped down again with no mention of the game. PlayStation is likely aware of the enormous demand surrounding the game, and so will most likely announce it at one of its bigger Showcase events.

As for when that will happen is anybody’s guess, but at least for Lies of P fans, the future seems bright, with a DLC arriving in the second half of 2024 and a sequel confirmed to release in the future. It’ll be interesting to see whether Round8 will strike up a Game Pass deal for the expansion in the same vein as the base game.

Overall, this update provides welcome clarity and a more defined timeline for Lies of P players waiting in the wings for additional content, and for now, this South Korean indie seems to be the only way to carry the Bloodborne spirit forward.
