Woman beaten with brass knuckles during Midtown robbery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is recovering from injuries to her eye and mouth after she was punched and stomped on during a robbery outside a Walgreens in Midtown.

The victim told police she exited the store in the 1800 block of Union Avenue around 10:15 p.m. on January 9 and was attacked from behind as she walked toward her car.

She said the robber punched her in the face with brass knuckles and when she fell to the ground, they snatched her cross-body purse.

According to a GoFundMe set up by a friend, when the victim tried to fight back, the attacker also stomped on her head.

The friend said the victim was traumatized by what happened and suffered two concussions, an eye injury that is affecting her vision, cracked ribs, a misaligned jaw, a broken tooth, and a sprained wrist.

Police said after the robbery, the victim managed to drive back to her job at the Renasant Convention Center, and a co-worker took her to the hospital.

The victim said her purse contained around $40. She was not able to get a good look at the suspect.
