You Cannot Miss The Lake House DLC That is Surely Setting Up Control 2

Remedy Entertainment continues to add to its supernatural universe. This time with The Lake House DLC for Alan Wake 2. This DLC not only adds to key plot points from the main game but also potentially sets the stage for Control 2.

With the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) being a major feature, The Lake House serves as the perfect bridge between Alan Wake and Control. With eerie settings, mysterious experiments, and new characters, this DLC is one that fans of both games should not overlook.

Alan Wake 2‘s DLC Could Be The Building Block For Control 2

The Lake House begins where the main game left off, exploring the mysteries surrounding the FBC’s research facility. In the base game, players encountered cryptic references to the Lake House incident but were cut off from discovering its true nature.

The DLC centers around the mysterious research facility operated by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) near Cauldron Lake. Players will be introduced to Kiran Estevez, an agent whose story runs parallel to that of Alan Wake 2’s protagonist, Saga Anderson.

For those who played the main storyline of Alan Wake 2, the FBC’s presence was teased but never fully explored. Files and lore throughout the game hinted at the mysterious “Lake House incident,” but the specifics were left open.

Remedy has been building towards this moment since the release of Control’s AWE expansion, where Alan Wake was introduced into the world of Control. That expansion marked the beginning of Remedy’s Connected Universe, and The Lake House will further merge the two worlds.

Given Remedy Entertainment’s history of storytelling, it’s likely that The Lake House could sow the seeds for Control 2. Fans of both games have been speculating about a possible appearance by Control’s protagonist, Jesse Faden, in the DLC.

Though her role hasn’t been confirmed, many believe that Jesse’s story is too closely tied to the FBC for her to be absent from this chapter of the Alan Wake saga. If she does appear, it could signify a major crossover event that sets the stage for both Control 2 and a potential Alan Wake 3.

While The Lake House DLC ties into the main game’s story, it also serves as an accessible entry point for players who haven’t delved into Control. Much like Control’s AWE expansion, which could be enjoyed by those unfamiliar with Alan Wake, this new DLC seems designed to bring in players from both fanbases.

Remedy Entertainment has already confirmed that Control 2 is in active development, and it wouldn’t be surprising if The Lake House sets up key plot points or characters for the sequel. In this way, the DLC could serve as a bridge between the events of Alan Wake 2 and Control.

As of the writing of this article, Remedy has yet to announce a release date for the DLC. But we do know it’s coming this October. Alan Wake 2 came out almost exactly a year ago on October 27, 2023, so maybe Remedy is planning to release it in the same week or so.

But regardless, Control and its DLC delivered. Alan Wake 2 delivered. And we can expect The Lake House DLC to deliver too. With Control 2 already in the works, this would be the perfect setup for what’s to come.
