3 juveniles arrested for online threats made towards South Kohala school

KAMUELA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Three Hawaii Island juveniles have been arrested and charged with first-degree terrorist threatening charges after they allegedly made an online threat towards a South Kohala School.

Officials said a school official filed the complaint to Hawaii Police personnel on Friday, expressing protection and safety concerns for the school’s students and staff.

According to police, the three juveniles were loitering on the school’s property on the 65-0000 block of Lindsey Road in Kamuela on Thursday around 4 p.m.

The next day, the suspects were seen making a verbal threat in an online video that was posted on the internet.

Area II Juvenile Aid Section detectives identified all three suspects, who were later arrested, charged and released to the custody of their parents.

Police take threats of violence extremely seriously, especially those directed towards students and schools. We would like to thank parents and other community members for their vigilance and for coming forward to provide information to the police.
