Amazon Games Says That Crystal Dynamics’ New Tomb Raider Is Making Good Progress

The upcoming Tomb Raider game was announced in 2022. The game’s IP is owned by Embracer Group, a video game and media holding company that went through a lot of turmoil recently.

Fans of the action-adventure video game series starring Lara Croft were worried that the game would be affected by everything happening at Embracer. Fortunately, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

The last title in the action-adventure video game series came out in 2018, six years ago from the time of writing. Since then, fans have been waiting for the next instalment in the series. The IP has had over 20 different games, and three separate series spread across three different timelines.

The upcoming game was announced, and it was said that it would unify all of the three timelines. Now, there seems to be an update on the game shared by the Vice-President of Amazon Games, Christoph Hartmann in an interview with IGN.

Hartmann stated that the game was mostly unfazed by all of the leadership changes happening over at Embracer Group, the owner of the IP. He also stated that the game is making good progress:

I mean, doing a new Tomb Raider, the bar is so high. The longer you go, the expectation goes higher, so it’s a huge, huge task, but things are progressing.

Nothing major is known about the upcoming game as it is in the early stages, but fans are cooking up theories and speculating about Lara Croft‘s next adventure.

No Confirmation Regarding the Upcoming Tomb Raider Game’s Subject Matter

Whenever an IP that is as iconic as the one being discussed begins a new epoch, there is a lot of excitement in the air. In the interview above, Hartmann, despite sharing that things are going well for the game’s development, didn’t share any insights about the game’s subject matter.

Hartmann candidly stated that even though the team is excited to share details, it is currently not feasible:

I mean, there’s some really great ideas here. Obviously, we’re not going to share any with you even if we would love to, but things are going well,

This means that everything found on the internet about the upcoming game is pure speculation at that point. Some rumors have suggested that the game is going to be open world, set in India but readers are suggested to take all of this with a generous scoop of salt.
