Arrowhead’s Plan to Buff Every Fan Favorite Weapon in Helldivers 2 Could Instead Prove to Be a Disaster Unfolding for Super Earth Soon

After the Escalation of Freedom update for Helldivers 2 failed, Arrowhead Game Studios devised a 60-day plan to fix the game using players’ feedback. Players had huge expectations from the major update but it was a complete letdown. It’s no secret that Helldivers 2 is constantly losing players but it seems like Arrowhead is finally heading in the right direction.

The studio has revealed that some major changes are coming in the next patch, 01.001.007. With this update, Arrowhead is hoping to return the game to its former glory by improving various weapons and Stratagems.

Arrowhead Game Studios Plans To Buff Weapons In The Next Patch

The official X account of Arrowhead Game Studios has been revealing “a buff a day” that will be a part of the upcoming Patch 01.001.007 for Helldivers 2. This update will improve various weapons and Stratagems that were nerfed in the past.

So far, we know that the Flamethrower’s damage will be increased by 33%, the Railgun‘s durable damage will increase from 60 to 225, plus its overcharging damage will be buffed from 150% to 250% and the Breaker shotgun’s magazine will hold 16 shells, and the stagger force has been increased from 10 to 15. Arrowhead is specifically focusing on fan-favorite weapons to make sure that fans get what they want.

As per Steam Charts, Helldivers 2 had over 450,000 active number of players at one pointing February 2024, however, the Peak Players number has now reduced to just roughly 38,000. Arrowhead still has one trick up its sleeve to save Helldivers 2 and it is the Illuminate, the third rumored faction of the game.

Is The Illuminate Finally Coming to Helldivers 2?

After Arrowhead revealed that buffs are coming in the next update, players speculate that a major threat is finally coming to the game: the Illuminate. For many months, the community has only got hints about the faction but now, it seems like they’re right around the corner.

Others believe that all this is just a part of Arrowhead’s 60-day plan as the game’s popularity has dipped significantly. The studio highlighted that they will re-examine its approach to balance, improve the fire damage mechanic, rework gameplay in terms of ragdolling, improve combat, re-work primary weapon designs, improve frame rate, rework chargers, and fix bugs.

Introducing the Illuminate will definitely convince many players to return to the game as the community is tired of fighting bugs and bots. A part of the community believes that Arrowhead has set an unrealistic deadline for themselves but the Patch 01.001.007 could be a step in the right direction.

If the Illuminate is on its way, Super Earth needs to prepare for a huge disaster as this super-advanced race of psychic aliens will be very difficult to take down. Thankfully, the buffs Arrowhead adds in the update will definitely help the community defend Super Earth.
