Boats Left ‘Smashed Into Homes’ on Florida Island in Wake of Hurricane Surge

Boats were seen littered along a street or “smashed into houses” in Treasure Island, Florida, early on Friday, September 27, as the community began to deal with what the local mayor called “unbelievable damage” in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that Helene made landfall in the Florida Big Bend region as a Category 4 hurricane on Thursday evening.

As of Friday morning, the hurricane had travelled northeast into Georgia. Credit: @TresIslandFL via Storyful
