Dragon Ball Fans Risk Destroying Their Own Expectations for Sparking Zero After Giving it Hefty Title

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will finally release this year after several months of character announcements, trailers, and other features. However, it seems that fan expectations are too high regarding what this game can offer. 

This game has the potential to significantly improve the overall quality of anime-based video game adaptations of this franchise, which have been lacking for the past few years. As a result, players expect too much from this title, which could be very counterproductive once it becomes available.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Is Probably One of the Most Anticipated Games of the Year

Bandai Namco surprised fans after announcing the spiritual successor to the popular Budokai Tenkaichi fighting saga. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero adopted the name of the Japanese version of this franchise and will be an official continuation of it.

The studio says this game will be one of the most complete in the franchise, almost 17 years after the last entry. One of the most important features of this title is the ability to choose from 160 different characters.

Despite how anticipated this game is, everything indicates that player expectations are too high, and that once the game is available, it could disappoint in certain aspects.

This is because most of the latest games based on this popular anime, created by the talented Akira Toriyama, were not very good. Since the level was so low, players expected this title to be completely different.

Bandai Namco Has a Lot at Stake

The studio has been consistently releasing videos showcasing the various characters that will be part of the official roster since the confirmation of the release date, or even earlier.

Despite the lack of gameplay, players continue to eagerly anticipate what this title will offer. Everything indicates that, beyond the numerous characters, Sparking Zero will have a lot of content to select from.

A story mode that allows for the modification of some canonical events, split-screen battles, and other modes are among the numerous confirmed features. Fan expectations are too high.

Many believe it will be the definitive Dragon Ball game. All of this could potentially backfire, as the disappointment could be overwhelming if the game fails to live up to the fans’ high expectations. The fans are too excited.

On October 10th, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will be available for the PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. It will be the franchise’s first title to officially include the Super saga in the story mode.

The roster already includes several characters from this saga, expanding the battles beyond those from the Z saga. This title has the potential to be one of the best of the year, or at least one of the best based on this anime.
