EU film industry and relations with the US

In a debate from 9.00, MEPs are expected to call on Commissioner Dan Jørgensen to defend the EU Audiovisual Directive against attacks and threats from the US administration, and to protect the EU’s cultural sovereignty and diversity. They will vote on a resolution at 12 noon.

Seasonal time change: spring forward, fall back.

In the last debate of the part-session, starting at 15.00, MEPs will quiz Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas on possible ways to advance the legislative proposal to do away with the biannual clock change that Parliament backed in 2019.

In brief

Combating violence against women and girls. Plenary will be discussing ways to combat violence against women and girls, in a debate from around 10.00 with Marie Bjerre, Danish Minister for European Affairs, and Commissioner Dan Jørgensen.

Breast cancer. MEPs will ask Minister Bjerre and Commissioner Jørgensen how the EU is helping to promote breast cancer screening, in a debate starting at around 11.00.

At noon, MEPs will also vote on:

  • two objections to Commission delegated acts, regarding first, InvestEU strategic investments in the field of defence, and second, a methodology for assessing greenhouse gas emissions savings from low-carbon fuels;
  • a new soil monitoring law;
  • a new regulation on preventing plastic pellet losses to reduce microplastic pollution;
  • a resolution on renewing the EU-Africa Partnership, ahead of the EU-African Union summit in Angola at the end of November;
  • motions for a resolution on the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Brazil (COP30); and
  • motions for resolutions on key objectives for the COP 20 Conference on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Uzbekistan.
