How PSN Integration with Steam Hurts Gamers and Developers
This is something that most non PC gamers just don’t get why is it so painful what’s the big deal etc etc.
To answer that question let’s think about the biggest failure of a launcher integration to date games for windows live.
Gfwl launched alongside vista cursing seemingly random games with its integration from GTA IV, to crysis to fallout 3 and many many more. All of which required the gfwl software installed a Xbox account and a integration that always felt broken and even when the service was retired it still haunted games and broke many games that had the integration.
At best this requirement is just an annoyance like the doom 1 and 2 recent re releases that can be ignored and don’t require a launcher.
At worst it’s games for windows live and can result in the game being tied to a dead piece of software rendering the game unplayable in the near future.
But we have to turn around and ask in a single player game why is this requirement here do Sony really need this to understand in game metrics or is it more than that is it a control thing
