Interstate 40 lanes open after Labor Day morning vehicle fire caused closures and diversions in Pulaski County
PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – Eastbound traffic flow was impacted on Interstate 40 just outside of North Little Rock due to a vehicle fire, according to Arkansas highway officials.
Just after 8:30 Labor Day morning, the Arkansas Department of Transportation released that officials are working to clear a vehicle fire about 0.8 miles outside of North Little Rock that shutdown all eastbound lanes.
The vehicle was burning near mile marker 162 at Valentine Road, according to iDrive cameras.
At 10:30 a.m. traffic began moving between exit 161 and the burned 18 wheeler. Officials said all other traffic will be diverted to Highway 70 at exit 161.
Just after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, all lanes on I-40 were open for travel and just the right shoulder as blocked as workers continued to clear debris from the fire.
Officials have not released the cause of the fire or if there are any injuries.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
