Josh Warneke coronial inquest: Former detective Mark Fyfe reveals concerns over Gene Gibson imprisonment

A former detective who reviewed the initial police investigation into Josh Warneke’s death says he was so concerned about the original inquiry he asked a defence lawyer to contact the Indigenous man who was in jail for the 21-year-old’s manslaughter.

Former WA Police Detective Inspector Mark Fyfe made the comments on Friday as he gave evidence at a coronial inquest which is examining Mr Warneke’s death in Broome in 2010.
