Man arrested after being caught drinking from bottle of wine while driving in Mitcham, Melbourne
A man has been caught drinking a bottle of wine behind the wheel in Melbourne’s east on Sunday.
The driver caught the attention of police when they spotted him driving with one hand on the steering wheel while tipping back alcohol with the other on Whitehorse Rd, Mitcham about midday.
The 24-year-old was then pulled over near Cochrane St where he underwent a breath test and allegedly returned a reading of .234 — more than quadruple the legal limit.
His Toyota Yaris was impounded and his licence was immediately suspended.
The man, from Ashburton, is expected to face court charged with drink-driving offences.
