Northbound I-5 reopens, southbound traffic still closed due to crash
Both directions of Interstate 5 were delayed on Thursday north of Salem and south of the Aurora-Donald Interchange, due to a crash, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
ODOT said just before 10:15 a.m. northbound I-5 had reopened at milepost 277 south of the Aurora-Donald Interchange.
I-5 southbound is still closed south of Woodburn as emergency crews respond to a crash in the median and southbound lanes, ODOT said. The agency said it could take till this afternoon until southbound lanes are reopened and traffic has cleared.
Drivers are asked to use an alternate route.
Southbound traffic is backed up to Wilsonville.
Some southbound I-5 traffic is using Oregon Route 551 from Wilsonville toward Oregon Route 99E as a detour. ODOT said drivers should expect delays if using either highway between Aurora and Woodburn due to the heavy traffic.
