PlayStation Portal Is A Major Success For Sony With Almost Half Million Sales

I would love a new portable from Sony but things have now changed a lot .

Two things to consider here I believe;

a) if they are looking into it, it means that we are far away from a release of a new gaming handheld from Sony as they need to decide on specs, game support, price and competition

b) this not the same era where Nintendo and Sony clashed for control of handheld market.
We have the switch 2 coming with great momentum after the monumental success of the original and we have capable pc handhelds that play Sony, Xbox and PC games (therefore they offer more options)

Besides Steamdeck proved that you can blur the lines between console and PC due to its intuitive and fluid interface due to Linux software (it really is very good) and only recently Valve confirmed support of SteamOs for other handheld windows machines (Asus Rog Ally for instance).

It will be a much tougher sell these days and handheld pcs gain more traction every day.

Besides Sony has an AAA issue this generation and it would not be prudent to split its resources between handheld and main console since there is no way to offer PS5 power level on a handheld.
