Former premier Colin Barnett says speculation about the party’s leadership is premature and that high-profile Liberal candidate for Churchlands Basil Zempilas should not be parachuted into Libby Mettam’s job before the State election in March.

“I don’t think that should happen. Basil will be a great addition to the WA Parliament, but he’s got to win the seat first,” he said.
