The first WA mine to shudder under the pressure of the lithium downturn will have ripple effects on the Ravensthorpe community, which has already suffered under the impact of the nickel industry collapse, according to the shire president.

US-headquartered Arcadium Lithium revealed on Thursday it would wind down operations at its Mt Cattlin site — about 400km south-west of Kalgoorlie-Boulder — leaving the Goldfields-Esperance Shire of Ravensthorpe bracing for change for the second time this year.
