Steam breaks new concurrent user record

For what can be seen by many as the prime platform for PC gaming, Steam has maintained a very large playerbase over the years. So far, it has managed to break its total concurrent player record twice this year alone, with a new one being set just this March.

With reference to SteamDB‘s charts, a record of 34.6 million users were seen online using the platform. This breaks its previous concurrent record of over 33.6 million that was set at the beginning of January. This represents an increase of one million in two months— a notable feat, to say the least.

The most played games during the time have been recorded as well, with Counter-Strike 2 arriving at 1.4 million, Dota 2 at 727,000, PUBG at 638,000 and Apex Legends at 455,000 concurrent players.

It’s uncertain whether or not more records will be set this year, but Steam’s annual winter sales through December to January may have a strong likelihood of bringing this number to a new, all-time high.
