There’s still disagreement among the gaming enthusiasts and experts regarding the onset of their development. However, some believe it began prior to the home computer revolution. Several of them are easily available to us today on the internet, and here are some of the best of them to play.

13. Pizza Tower

Even before it was released, Peppino Spaghetti had developed a large fandom owing to the game’s early access. Developed by Tour De Pizza, it was the debut project for the studio that took nearly five years.

As users advance in the game, they’ll find some delicious secrets waiting for them in each level, which can unlock boss fights. It was recently announced that the game will be made available on Switch.

A man’s got to pass time while waiting; that’s the essence of the game. As the character is waiting for a meeting in the fictional Barnsworth town, he goes outside to explore the region while solving problems of townspeople for to pass the time.

7. Stray

This cat certainly isn’t among the pigeons. Perhaps one of the indie games that may send the fans into a state of confusion if that’s an AAA video game is Stray. As the name suggests, the protagonist of the game is a stray cat who is separated from its group.

The cat then finds a robotic companion and both explore a city devoid of humans. An interesting story then follows. Maybe that’s why Annapurna Animation decided to adapt the game into a feature film

6. Firewatch

If anyone hasn’t visited the Shoshone National Forest of Wyoming, they can genuinely feel the experience of being there as they assume role of a fire lookout dubbed Henry.

Renowned artist Olly Moss, known for reimagining movie posters, did all the work on the game’s environment.

5. Stardew Valley

How could we miss an indie game that landed its name on the greatest games of all time list? It was praised by Yashiro Wada, creator of the video game series that inspired this, Story of Seasons.

The game’s creator is so protective of its IP that he doesn’t have any real trust in many when it comes to the game’s potential movie adaptation.

4. Cocoon

Development of this game began following the departure of the game’s director, Jeppe Carlsen, from PlayDead. Use assumes the role of an insectoid like creature wandering a wasteland.

It features orbs that hold an entire world that also features some interesting bosses that aren’t really a cakewalk.

3. Palword

That one game made headlines as soon as fans got their hands on it. Interestingly, it isn’t even officially out yet. The ‘Pokemon with Guns’ is already the second most played game on Steam.

2. Hades

Developers wanted to explore procedural narrative storytelling but couldn’t owing to the gameplay’s nature.

The character in the game is a nameless boy who is on the lookout for his lost sister. Throughout his search, he comes across a variety of traps, creatures, and puzzles, which, if the character is unable to cross, end up in something that would send a user in an unnerving state.

Dino Patti, PlayDead co-founder, and Jeppe Carlson initially funded the video game personally. Moreover, they didn’t want any major publishers to takeaway the creative freedom, and that was indeed one fruitful decision.
