Andrew McQualter was braving the two hour drive from Inverloch in country Victoria to Melbourne on a wet Sunday morning when West Coast CEO Don Pyke rang to tell him he’d been appointed as coach.

McQualter had been visiting his older brother Tom and was heading home with wife Jane and daughters Emily (7), Alice, (4) and Georgia (17 months). It was a road trip they’ll never forget as they embark on the most remarkable journey of his AFL career.
