Wukong Boss Fight With Giant Shigandang Can be the Easiest and the Most Difficult Boss Fight in the Game at the Same Time

After years of anticipation, Black Myth: Wukong is now available for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. The gaming community wasted no time diving into the story and exploring the game’s vast regions to fight overpowered enemies and aid the Destined One in his quest to recover all relics to resurrect the original Sun Wukong. The journey was harrowing and Game Science was inspired by the intense difficulty and combat systems of the Soulslike genre leading to some rage-inducing moments for the player base. However, some players revel in fighting these bosses because it offers them a unique challenge.

The game developers embedded a few secret boss battles that are completely optional; however, the gaming community took this as an invitation to get punished or showcase the skills they have accumulated throughout their journey. Giant Shigandang is a menace and could easily wipe the players on the floor, but some have managed to find a way to demolish this rocky boss.

Giant Shigandang Packs a Mean Punch in Black Myth: Wukong

The game developers did not hold back in designing the combat system of Black Myth: Wukong, and the gaming community faces another Soulslike-adjacent project. Some bosses are intended to unfurl pain and emotional damage like Erlang Shen are too powerful and considered to be the hardest boss fight in the entire game; however, these enemies are no different from smaller and weaker foot soldiers that can be defeated with patience, discipline, training, the right equipment, and persistence. 

Other players expected the soulless husk of Sun Wukong to be the hardest boss battle since it is the final story mission, and make no mistake, this boss can still send the Destined One running; however, Game Science added one other secret boss called Giant Shigandang in the final chapter near Mount Huaguo, where the Destined One is from, and this boss can obliterate players with a single deadly blow. This rocky monstrosity is large in scale and hits harder than regular bosses, but it is much easier to take down with the right tools and skills.

Boss battles can be nerve-wracking and rage-inducing, especially if these enemies can undo all of a player’s hard work. Some players discovered an easier way to defeat smaller bosses like Elder Jinchi without breaking a sweat, and taking damage by timing their attacks and casting immobility spells followed by a flurry of deadly combos and using the Wandering Wight ability, Jinchi will fall immediately. These tactics and combat techniques can greatly benefit the Destined One while fighting different bosses, especially Giant Shigandang, who packs a mean punch.

Black Myth: Wukong players were intimidated by the size of Giant Shigandang and were humbled by a single attack. The Destined One’s greatest advantage is not his size but his speed, as soon as Shigandang throws an attack, his limb will be left exposed for a short period for the player to damage the crystals which happens to be his weak spot. Applying enough pressure and a flurry of deadly combos, the health bar of Giant Shigandang will drop faster than expected.

Black Myth: Wukong Players Are Not Ready for the Emotional Damage of Being Constantly Defeated

The gaming community is not entirely fond of playing difficult games that expect much from them. The Soulslike genre has nurtured a generation of competitive players who learned discipline through trials by fire and humility. The developers of Game Science wanted to deliver an authentic representation of Chinese culture and mythology, even if it meant designing overpowered enemies that could be conquered with great effort.

Some players easily give up and resort to external services to grind for resources and items with higher rarity, which is not the ideal experience. Game Science wanted players to endure all the hardships the Destined One encounters to become stronger, and throwing money at problems will not make it go away.

Giant Shigandang is no different from Elder Jinchi or Erlang Shen; all of the bosses can pack a punch and give serious punishment. Players should weigh their options carefully and not rush into battle with the proper preparations.

Game Science delivered a great gaming experience, but it was overshadowed by the difficulty of the bosses. If players were to overlook this needed feature, their experience would be much smoother.
