XDefiant’s Mixed Modes Need to be Separated to Allow the Different Types of FPS Players to Really Flourish

After several years since its announcement, Ubisoft finally launched XDefiant, a first-person shooter aiming to compete with games like Call of Duty. This free-to-play title offers various common modes typical of this genre but with some changes to the genre and the gameplay overall.

Numerous players are not satisfied with the current state of the game, especially regarding matchmaking, which, according to various Reddit users, is far from balanced. A specific user expressed their frustration with players who prioritize their own interests over the game’s objectives.

Despite not having a significant marketing campaign to promote its launch, XDefiant has been out for two months and has garnered a very impressive community of players.

The free-to-play title features various factions from different universes created by Ubisoft battling each other in different combat modes. Recently, the game introduced its first season of content, including a battle pass.

However, many players who consistently engage with the game are complaining about the unfair matchmaking. These players argue that they frequently encounter teammates who don’t play as a team and aren’t interested in the match’s objectives.

This makes team matches frustrating, especially when they can’t play with their friends. This particular problem is something common in the genre.

Ubisoft Should Make Some Adjustments to the Matchmaking

One user posted a lengthy message describing their disappointment with the matchmaking, stating that it consistently pairs them with players who don’t want to play as a team.

This player was particularly harsh on Ubisoft, saying this issue is preventing them from enjoying the game. The user concluded their post by saying they shouldn’t have to suffer through every match, especially if they want to play ranked.

Other first-person shooter users and players also voiced their complaints about matchmaking and how it affects their gaming experience. Some of these players even proposed their own ideas for balancing team composition.

Several fans of the game suggested that, at the very least, they should be informed when there are groups of players in a match, especially when they are solo players.

It seems that XDefiant has become quite popular since its launch, offering a gameplay experience similar to Call of Duty but with distinct matches and more limited maps.

All this is done while offering a fast-paced, short gameplay experience that allows players to complete many matches in a short amount of time. The studio seems to be constantly listening to player feedback in order to improve.
