Helldivers 2 Fans Want an Empty Planet Where They Can “Just blow some stuff up”

In Helldivers 2, the only good bug is a dead bug, and the only thing better than a dead bug is a whole lot of dead bugs. But sometimes, even the most dedicated Helldiver needs a break from the constant grind of galactic warfare to just let loose and blow stuff up without the pressure of an impending alien invasion.

Enter the r/Helldivers subreddit, where one enterprising fan has come up with a brilliant idea that has the community buzzing with excitement: a dedicated “range” planet where players can test out new loadouts, hone their skills, and just generally cause some good old-fashioned mayhem.

A Planet-Sized Playground for the SEAF

The original post proposes the idea of an empty planet in Helldivers 2 that would serve as a gun range for players to try out new loadouts and, well, just blow some stuff up:

Hear me out – we need a range

The idea quickly caught on, with other divers chiming in to offer their own suggestions for how such a feature could be implemented.

One user proposed a “small home farmstead location” with button consoles to spawn different types of enemies, essentially creating a customizable shooting gallery:

Another user suggested that the range could be a simulation accessed through a ship module, while others proposed integrating it into existing Super Destroyers or the upcoming Democracy Space Station (DSS):

For those not in the know, the DSS is a massive player-driven structure currently under construction and orbiting around planet Gaellivare of the Talus Sector. Once completed, it will serve as a powerful strategic tool, with the Helldivers themselves voting on where to deploy it and when to use its capabilities in true democratic fashion!

Of course, this being the Helldivers universe, not everyone was on board with the idea of using precious bullets for target practice. As one user put it:

It’s a fair point—in a galaxy where freedom is always under threat, every shot counts. But sometimes, even the most dedicated Super Earth soldiers need a little R&R. And what better way to unwind than by blowing up some harmless virtual Bugs on a deserted planet?

Perhaps the best comment of all, though, came from a user who perfectly summed up the over-the-top nature of the game’s universe:

In a game where players routinely call down orbital strikes and mech suits, the idea of a dedicated range planet doesn’t seem so far-fetched. And who knows? Maybe Arrowhead Game Studios will take note of the community’s suggestions and give us a place to let loose and blow stuff up in the name of democracy and freedom.

What do you think? Would you like to see a range planet added to the game? What features would you include? Let us know in the comments below!
