Proportion of South West population 60-and-over increased by more than 12 per cent since 2001

The proportion of the South West population who are at least 60 years old has nearly doubled since the turn of the century, new Australian Bureau of Statistics figures reveal.

According to the latest ABS 2023 population statistics released in late August, the proportion of South West and Waroona residents 60 or above sat at 27.9 per cent in 2023, up from 15.6 per cent in 2001.
